Problems with Submissions

Ellie on 01/22/2008 09:53 pm
Our web host has had a bad cpanel update that needs to be fixed. They are working on it, but until then, it's not possible to add or edit a story/chapter on DNF and Purgatory. I don't know about TNF.

Polls

I just set up a poll. You have to be login to vote. If you are not a member and you want to participate in the poll, register. It's easy and you don't have to be an author to become a member.

New Feature

The latest version of eFiction lets you add comments to your favorites. Basically you can write down why a story/author/series is one of your favorites or something you like about them, etc.

It's a nifty feature that enriches the archive, so if you have favorites, think about adding a comment to them. You can do that through "Manage Your Favorites" in "Your Account" menu.

Off-site stories

Since I started using eFiction I have been asked about linking to C/B stories archived off-site. Well I think I finally found a way to make it happen. I found a module for off-site recommendations and I think I can adapt it for authors to link to their own stories off-site.

I have it up now because I'm just not good enough with php to make changes without seeing whether my changes worked or not. I won't be able to do much until next week, so you may not notice any changes until then.

Please don't use it to rec off-site stories. That's not what it's going to be used for at the end. If you want to use it to link to your own stories, go for it. I need content to work with, so it will be helpful.

Btw, I finally updated DNF....Yeah! We also have a new addition Purgatory. It's for responses to DNF challenges that involve other pairings.

Okay, I lied

I had a project that took over most of my Saturday. I didn't want to start the upgrade Sunday, so I am going to postpone it to next week.

Upgrade eFiction

Archivist on 06/27/2007 10:47 am
Not this weekend but next weekend, July 7-8, 2007, I'm going to try to upgrade the site. The archive will hopefully be down only a couple of hours, but it may be longer. The last time I almost didn't get it to work. I'm hoping this time it will be a more pleasant experience.

I'm hoping the upgrade might make my IE7 problem go away.

Tracking down the problem

So I have discovered that Internet Explore 7.0 hangs up when trying to edit or add a story. I am not sure why; however, until I do, I suggest you use Firefox. It's free. You can find it at http://www.mozilla.com/

Need help

Some members have been experiencing problems with editing, and adding their stories. Could you email me your operating systems, web browser, version and whether you have been experiencing problems? and what kind? It would help me figure out what is going on. Thanks!

I looked at are stats and I think it's so cool that we have so many reviews. We have more review then we have stories.

Updates

eFiction 3.0 allows you to add your own fields to the member's profile, so I added a field for livejournal and journalfen. If there is any other fields you would like me to add, let me know.

I add a new open universe, Pangris verse, created by evil Jacquie. Go check it out.

I added two new categorys to the links directory: Off-site Slash Fic and Off-site Gen Fic. This is for anyone who would like to link their story to DNF from off site rather then archiving it locally and I thought since it's offsite I would relax the submission rules and allow other pairings.

I am using the new layout even though it still needs tweeking. I'll be adjusting it over the next week.
